LES JARDINS D'ISSOLE

Seen in my garden!

Introduction

Something is happening in a garden at every moment! A new shoot, birds, animals (sometimes uninvited!). It's a chance to take a photo and write a few words about what's going on. Or to identify an unknown plant!
"Seen in my garden" is a section updated day by day by all the members of LES JARDINS D'ISSOLE.

SEEN IN ANNIE & PATRICE'S GARDEN
September 2025

A fairly rare plant in France... A flower spike over a metre tall. An enormous bulb barely rising above the ground. Either you see the leaves but not the flower, or the flower spike in summer but not the leaves! We are looking at Urginea maritima or Drimia maritima, also known as sea squill, sea onion, Escila , Adasogani , Squill , Basal Al Far , U'Nsul , Squill.
It hides more than 2,000 years of a... chaotic history!

Summer in Marie-Claude & Alain's garden

Hot, very hot, this 2022! Which brought us long siestas, the silence of the birds and the cicadas... but also many butterflies and, for the first time, a visit from beautiful dragonflies that had not been up to the Aviateurs district (in Garéoult) in 12 years.

SEEN IN MARIE-CLAUDE & ALAIN'S GARDEN
Hello everyone,
Marie-Claude and Alain have sent everyone a few photos of their "little joys of May":
The heady fragrances of heavy English roses,
The sweet mock orange,
The old peppery pinks,
The honey of the honeysuckle,
...and the calm that soothes you!

Hello everyone,
Marie-Claude and Alain have sent me a few photos of their "little joys of April": golden cushions of oregano, the heady scent of choisya, the blue lightness of flax...

I will be delighted to publish them in this section.
